DIVING KINGFISHERS WORKSHOP

_E2A4392A copy_edited.jpg

Get stunning diving shots and dazzling portraits of Kingfishers in golden autumn light.

A rare opportunity to photograph the high-speed dive and agility of the Kingfisher with flash.

A true blink-and-you-miss-it moment in nature, this workshop is designed to help you capture one of the UK's most iconic birds.

We are fortunate to have a resident pair of kingfishers that we know well, giving us exceptional opportunities to photograph these electric-blue birds in flight and diving from a variety of natural perches.

Tuition is provided on using carefully controlled flash techniques to create striking images that freeze the kingfisher's fast movements in crisp detail - from hovering flight to the instant it pierces the water. A lens of 300mm or more is recommended for most shots.

The kingfishers feed very regularly (almost half-hourly) in a well-lit area and are accustomed to our hide, allowing us to photograph them responsibly and without disturbance.

This workshop takes place at the same private site used for my Tawny Owl and other Kingfisher workshops. You can find further details on related experiences here.
