This November marks my fourth year of running the Scottish Shores workshop in Edinburgh. It has been a great season of wildlife opportunities for my groups with high numbers of shorebirds and geese seen from sunrise to sunset. Participants had many chances to photograph coastal species such as Purple Sandpiper, Sanderling, Oystercatcher, Pink-Footed Goose, Grey Heron and Redshank. We were all treated to prolonged views of Short-Eared Owls, with some participants getting very close to the hunting action. We even saw some rarities such as King Eider, Snow Goose and Shore Lark. The weather too held out, giving us wonderfully dramatic stormy skies and golden sunrises. Everyone had the chance to develop new skills and learn about wildlife, and it was great to help so many new photographers start their journey into nature photography!
