LAND OF THE LYNX

ANDUJAR, SPAIN

Follow in the footsteps of the rare Iberian Lynx and Otter in Andalucia this winter

Venture into the wild heart of Andalusia in search of the iconic Iberian Lynx - the rarest and most endangered feline in the world.

We have located a family of lynx that reliably frequents the area, so we will time our sessions with when the kittens are most active, offering us opportunities to photograph games and behavioural displays. We will search for them among Mediterranean scrubland and ancient Dehesa oak forest, where they hunt for rabbits. This land is also home to otters, fallow deer, boar, and eagles. Impressive rock formations offer resting places for the lynx during the day, so we will be in position at dawn to watch the families awake and observe the most intimate moments of their lives unfold.

LOCATION

We will stay in a bed & breakfast in the heart of lynx country. Unlike other tours which depend on sitting in hot hides for many hours, we have intimate local knowledge of two lynx families that we can observe without use of hides, meaning that you'll have a true wilderness experience.

WHAT MAKES THIS TOUR FOR YOU?

For this tour, we will visit one of Spain's best areas to watch lynx in the wild, without use of hides. As the Iberian lynx enters its mating season, these elusive felines become much more active during the day and less wary of human activity. Their behaviours and movement become easier to predict, ensuring a high success rate for us! The lynxes are also very vocal at this time, calling to their mates, and displaying many fascinating behaviours. We use every method at our disposal, from tracking footprints to heat imaging binoculars and camera traps, to find these creatures and ensure that you come home with a portfolio of unique images and experiences that few get to witness.

With expert photographic guidance from award-winning photographer Paul Alistair Collins, we'll ensure you capture truly unique images. We are proud to be in partnership with Gianluca Damiani, who has many years' experience leading wildlife tours in the region. We believe no one knows a land better than those who’ve lived there and travelled its length and breadth, and we will help you make the most of every opportunity.
