Day Out At Slimbridge

Today I took a small group of keen photographers from the University of Bristol Photographic Society on a late winter outing to WWT Slimbridge. Although this month can be a quiet time of transition for many birds, with Bewick's Swans and White-Fronted Geese heading home to their Siberian breeding grounds, our group had many amazing encounters - from a rare Goshawk chasing Golden Plover (a Fox later joined in but with less success), to Cranes performing their courtship dance. In the evening, everyone got stunning images of the captive Lesser Flamingos against the soft back-light of the setting sun. All in all a great day out at a wonderful reserve.
